Multirace.com is proud to present the 4th Annual Time Trial Triathlon & Duathlon. The races begin at 7:00 a.m. The triathlon consists of a 1/4 mile lake swim, 11 mile bike, and 3.1 mile 2-loop run on the scenic lake path, while the duathlon consists of a 1.5 mile run, 11 mile bike, then another 1.5 mile run.
The time trial triathlon start (Elite Triathletes and All Duathletes will start in the normal format) consists of starting participants 1 at a time at approximately 3 second intervals beginning at 7:05. Once you cross the starting mats, your time is recorded and your race has begun. The start is in no particular order. Participants will form a line and that is the order that you will start. First come, first served! This format has several advantages:
- Safer swim perfect for new triathletes. You don’t have to worry about getting clobbered by other people in the swim as you are starting by yourself, not with 100-150 other people at the same time.
- You can race head-to-head with your friends, family members, teammates, coach, etc. even if you aren’t in the same category. You can all start at the same time instead of 1 at a time. Groups larger than 3 or that intend on going slow should start at the end so as not to get in the way of more competitive racers.
- Safer bike with drafting nearly eliminated. Categories don’t start together so people of all abilities will be spread evenly throughout the course, virtually eliminating drafting possibilities.
- Anyone wishing to start in the normal wave format can start in the first wave with the Elites and see how they measure up with the best in the sport and see how it feels to be in the front of the race.
